Psychological testing involves a battery of tests administered by a psychologist that can be helpful in making decisions about such things as diagnosis, treatment recommendations, career choices, hiring, child placement, legal proceedings and medical options.
Psychological tests assess such things as:
- Autism
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Intelligence
- Learning disabilities
- Personality
- Academic achievement
- Parenting ability
- Social skills
- Treatment compliance
- Ability to work
- Readiness for surgery
- Ability to make legal decisions
- Memory and attention
A psychological evaluation may last anywhere from a couple of hours to all day. It typically involves an interview plus a battery of tests designed to address specific referral questions. A psychological evaluation report may include background information, tests results, diagnosis (when appropriate) and recommendations. Toward the end of the report specific recommendations may be made based on the evaluation findings.

Shannon received her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Evangel University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She became a therapist to help people navigate their complex world, improve their mental health, and experience joy-filled lives. She utilizes clinically tested and evidence-based interventions and believes in a holistic approach to mental health and that all areas of one’s life are interconnected. Research shows that unhealthy relationships and traumatic events can cause emotional and physical stress, whereas healthy relationships and emotional healing can enhance and improve overall well-being. Shannon offers therapy for individuals, relationships, ADHD, and families of various ages (i.e., children, adolescents, adults, and older individuals). Some typical focus areas are anxiety, depression, stress, grief, anger, relationship issues, mental health disturbances, ruptured attachment, adoption preparation and adjustment, developmental trauma, and adult trauma.
Shannon is an EMDR and Brainspotting (BSP) trained clinician. These treatment modalities allow for resolving trauma and negative core beliefs about self and the environment within a fraction of the time it takes standard talk therapy, bringing faster relief and less financial burden to the client.
Shannon enjoys time with her husband, grown children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She delights in being creative and has a great affection for animals.
